The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me; Your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Psalm 138:8
Ever wonder if we’ll fully trust God with all the things?
Our faith will only be perfected after we’re with Him for all of eternity.
While still living here on earth, I find it incredibly interesting we still let temptation take us for a ride.
Me? Lately it’s been the temptation of worry, anxiety, or needing control.
It all has to do with my book, Trusting God with All My Heart, releasing this past Tuesday. Cue the confetti!! Bring on the band!!
Super exciting. Like literally amazing stuff!
I know God has brought me from an unknown blogger to an unknown author, to selling over 200,000 books, to a second book, to who knows what God has planned. I see my first book and journal everywhere. Recently opened the Christianbook catalog and found my first book staring back at me! Talk about surprised!
And I know it’s all only from God. All of it. Nothing from my own strength. Even obeying Him is God’s mercy in me (Philippians 2:13).
I know my obedience is a big deal. Allowing God to use me is key, but the point is this: most of it was out of my control. The hard things and the good things. My family breaking apart. The different people storms over the years. A publisher wanting my book. And a second. And more to come. None of that was me. None of that was my control. God allowed things, using my obedience to fulfill His plan. Notice it’s His plan, not mine. He will fulfill His purpose for me.
Back to this week’s temptation. I can beg for Amazon reviews, but it’s out of my control since that’s up to others. Side note: I do need like 100 in this first month, so if you want to write one for me, I would never complain! I can plan for a book launch, reminiscent of my first one three years ago. But again, it’s largely out of my control. I can pray for my loved ones, but again, their choices are out of my control.
While reading my Bible today, God showed me the following verse: Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise Him, my salvation and my God. Psalm 42:5.
Once again I was caught. My temptation to worry was exposed. I was choosing to look at what I could not control, allowing myself to be cast down. Ridiculous. We must choose, continually, to hope in God. To praise Him. Why? Because He is our salvation. He is our God. He is in control, and isn’t that the most wonderful thing ever?
Next to my salvation, I am so thankful God controls my yesterdays, my todays, my future, and the entire universe. I do not have to organize everything perfectly. I do not have to double plan for contingencies because God already knows. He knows who will come on Sunday. He knows who will review my book on Amazon. He knows who will see my social media and become His. God has brought me to this place, and He will see everything through to the end.
Your turn. How have you allowed something to sneak back in, tempting your focus away from God?
Pray this with me: Thank you, God, for Your promise to fulfill Your purpose for me. Your love, O Lord, endures forever. Keep my soul praising You now and forevermore. Amen.
Now, who’s up for a book launch on Sunday? Me!
